President's Police medal to DIG, NHRC<br>
Mr. Satinder Pal Singh, Deputy Inspector General, DIG, (Investigation), National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has been awarded the President's Police medal for meritorious services. He is a 1995 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, IPS, of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He is posted in the Investigation Division of NHRC since June, 2006 and has conducted several investigations, first as a Senior Superintendent of Police and then as a DIG. These include activities of the Salwa Judum in Chattisgarh, the violence at Nandigram in West Bengal and the incidents of communal violence in Karnataka.
Prior to his appointment in NHRC, Mr. Singh served as the Superintendent of Police in three districts of Sirmaur, Mandi and Kangda in Himachal Pradesh. He was a member of the Indian contingent of the UN Civilian Police at Kosovo in 2004. He is also a winner of sword of honour in his batch of IPS officers at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
