Winners of Hindi fortnight competitions awarded<br>

At an in-house function organized on the 28th December, 2012, Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC gave away awards to the winners of the competitions held during Hindi fortnight from the 14th-28th September, 2012. Congratulating them, he said that language is a great unifying factor. The Chinese, Russians, Germans, French, among others, are very particular about their languages and treat them as their national identities.
Hindi is identified with India and spoken in most parts of the country. South Indians should be encouraged to learn it. For this, he suggested that State governments should acquire the rights of some popular and classic Hindi movies to show them to the people. This way, they would be encouraged to pick up Hindi easily and be part of the mainstream.
Earlier, Dr. Ashok Sahu, Secretary General, NHRC said that whatever be the circumstances relating to different social and cultural milieu, promotion and acceptance of Hindi is a collective responsibility of all in the country.
Later, Mr. Alok K. Shrivastava, Joint Secretary (P&A), NHRC urged the officers and staff of the Commission to actively participate in more numbers in such competitions in future and also use it in their work.
