Women’s Human Rights Cell in NHRC

Keeping in view of the large number of complaints being received in the Commission relating to women, including allegations of sexual harassment of women at the work-place, instances of rape, outraging of the modesty of a women, and abuse of the girl child, the Commission has set up a Women’s Human Rights Cell within the Commission’s Law Division. The Cell will deal with and scrutinize all complaints/cases relating to the harassment of women and the girl child, including those relating to dowry demands and rape cases. All fresh complaints received on these subjects will be processed by this Cell, while cases on this subject which are present being processed in the various Sections of the Law Division, will also be transferred to this Cell. The Cell shall function in co-ordination with the Research Division, as and when necessary
