Workshop on instituting an effective complaint handling system<br>
The National Human Rights Commission deputed Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Senior System Analyst, NHRC to attend a training workshop on instituting an effective complaint handling system at Mombasa, Kenya from 9th-13th July, 2012. The workshop organized for African NHRIs was an initiative of network of African National Human Rights Institutions in collaboration with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Sweden. The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency extended the financial support to the workshop.
During the workshop, Mr. Sharma shared NHRC, India's experience about its electronic complaint management system (CMS) including setting up the registry and use of standard documents involved in the process. He explained the benefits of CMS which helps in reducing chances of duplicate entry of cases, reduction of paper work, data retrieval, reports, statistics, automated reminders, integrated file movement system etc. Scanning and digitization of case files were also explained.
He informed that NHRC, India was in the process of introducing new online services in its web-based-CMS for online registration, status of cases and NHRC-SHRCs network. The organizers and participants found this briefing very helpful.
In addition to NHRC, India, the workshop was also attended by the participants from the NHRIs of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and South Africa.
