Workshop on role of Hindi and regional languages in the protection and promotion of human rights

For the first time, a national workshop is being conducted by NHRC on the role of the Official Language Hindi and other Indian Regional Languages in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights.
The one-day workshop will be inaugurated by Hon'ble Chairperson, Dr. Justice A.S. Anand on 16 March 2004 at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. The first session will be chaired by Hon'ble Member Justice (Smt.) Sujata V. Manohar and the second session by Hon'ble Member Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao.
Dr. Harish Kumar, Former Chairman, Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology will sum up the recommendations at the end of the workshop.
Prominent speakers at the workshop are will be Shri C.D. Tripathi, Prof. Suraj Bhan Singh, Shri M.L. Gupta, Prof. V.R. Jagannathan, Prof. Pandurang Rao and Shri S.C. Saxena. The topics of discussion at the workshop will include 'Right to use one's own language is in itself a Human Right', 'Linguistic aspect of Human Rights', 'Human Rights: Hindi for practical use', 'Provision of languages in the constitution as Fundamental Rights', 'Indianness of the Indian languages and Human Rights' and 'Human Rights: Difficulties and their solution in the use of Official Language Hindi and other Indian Regional Languages.
